CHANTAL AKERMAN in conversation with LYNNE COOKE, FIAF, NYC
Marie Losier, film programmer of the French Institute Alliance Francaise, and Quancard Contemporary Art presented a post screening conversation with Chantal Akerman lead by Lynne Cooke, Chief Curator of the DIA Art Foundation. This event took place immediately following the New York Premiere of Là-bas on February 9, 2007.

Synopsis: Là-bas was shot by Chantal Akerman during a short stay in an apartment in Tel Aviv. Is normal life possible there? Are images possible there? A film without the slightest intention - except to be without intention, so that something can become visible or possibly happen.

Là-bas was produced by Paradise Films, Xavier Carniaux & Marilyn Watelet, and, is distributed by Shellac. The film was selected in the Berlinale Forum, 2006, and the Festival International du Documentaire where it won the 'Grand Prix de la Competition Internationale', Marseille, 2006. La-bas was also nominated for Best Documentary at the Cesars Award, 2007.
Chantal Akerman was born on June 6, 1950 in Brussels. She currently lives in Paris.
